The Reptile Palace Orchestra at MotherFool's

I'll be playing at MotherFool's Coffeehouse (1101 Williamson Street, Madison, WI) this Saturday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. with The Reptile Palace Orchestra. Cover charge is $7. Since it's a small room, we'll be attempting to keep it pretty quiet. I'll be playing some tambura as well as bass. They say they are going to move furniture to make room for dancing.

Thanks, Dr.
Rocking happens. Hey, that sounds like a bumper sticker waiting to happen!

Poodledoc, you are correct, there will be no eggamuffins unless you bring your own. Regarding how early one needs to get there in order to grab a seat, I don't know. The management said they would be accommodating dancers; having been inside MotherFools, I don't see how they can make room for dancers unless they remove all or most of the seating. I would guess there will be some seats, and an early arrival might be wise if you want to sit down. Maybe 7:30-ish? I'm guessing, though. Maybe no one will show.

Upon serious reflection, I'm wondering how they will even fit the entire BAND inside, with all due respect to Jon and Stephanie. Dancing could be a theoretical concept, like impeachment......

Guess what? We actually made it to the show! For about half an hour of the first set. We'd have stayed longer but we left to find beer (and had to be home at 10:30 for the babysitter).

It was great. We look forward to seeing you guys again in a slightly larger venue w/adult beverages.

Thanks for coming, Jess! I'm sorry I didn't see you there, although I don't know if I would recognize you having only seen you in person that one time in Waunakee. Also, since that was the first time I've ever played tambura with this group (some of the songs we did Saturday night I had never even rehearsed on that instrument) I wasn't really paying too much attention to what was going on around me.

Did you see Suzy and Grace? I suspect not, since Suzy didn't mention seeing you. They didn't arrive until sometime during the first set.

We have an early show coming up May 21 at Monona Terrace. I think it's something like 5:30 - 7:00. Free, too. They also sell adult beverages there, although they're a bit pricey.

You can always find out about upcoming dates at www.reptilepalaceorchestra.com and click on schedule.

Nope, no eggamuffins at M. Fools; they are proudly vegan. (Does that mean no milk in your coffee?)

It WAS a tight squeeze getting all of you on that stage, AND having the requisite folk dancers.

I looked around for Suzy but didn't see her before we left. We were there really early. We were kind of crammed back by the coffee maker (delicious coffee btw!)

We were out because Ben had a reunion for track and field alums at the Field House which we snuck out of a little early and that's why we had limited time to be out.

I am marking the calendar for the Monona Terrace gig. We used to go to the winter shows there alot. My fave? The polka band that did Pink Floyd covers. Can't remember their name....

A polka band that does Pink Floyd covers? That sounds totally awesome! Are they still around? I'd love to check them out if they are.
