Amy Goodman Arrested at RNC

Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! was arrested and charged with "obstruction" yesterday in Saint Paul. Two other Democracy Now! journalists, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar, were also arrested and charged with "suspicion of felony riot." Kouddous and Salazar were both injured during the arrest. All three have since been released but still face charges. Can you say police intimidation? Read more about it here.

An outrage! Watching this - which I did earlier somewhere else, so upset me. The whole tenor of my day is colored by this.

Welcome to Facistland.

I can't imagine Amy Goodman being anything other than concerned about her fellow journalists. This is totally unjustified and wrong. At least Goodman won't let them off the hook on this one. She will be a powerhouse like they've never seen!

What are they so afraid of? Let's not forget that these tactics started before Bush/Cheney. In 2000 an acquaintance of ours went to a Gore rally. He was stopped at he gate because he was wearing a Nader button and told to take it off. He asked, "What about my free speech rights?" to which the officer replied, "Your rights stop here." Ah yes, I think it is a legacy of the Clinton years when the erosion of our rights began.

Bad grammar. Sorry. And I call myself a teacher.
